This site knows nothing about you
No analytics, no forms, and no request from your browser to anybody but us. The one thing stored is the language you chose. A person scanning a marker on a wall has no reason to be counted.
- Cookies
- One, and only if you choose a language yourself. It holds two letters — the language you picked — so that the next marker you scan comes up in it instead of guessing again from your device. Nothing else goes in it, it is never read to identify anybody, and clearing it in your browser puts things back exactly as they were.
- Analytics
- None. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no pixel and no product analytics of any kind.
- Forms and accounts
- There are none. Nothing here asks for your name, your email or anything else, because nothing here needs them.
- Requests from your browser
- Only to this site. The fonts are served from here rather than from Google. The map is drawn as vector, so no tile server sees you. The live train times, forecast and daylight are fetched by our server, not by your browser, so those services never receive your address.
- Server logs
- This site is hosted on Vercel, which records a request log in the ordinary way, and that includes IP addresses. We do not read those logs to identify anybody and nothing is joined to them. Vercel's own privacy terms are at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Links out
- Sources are linked to the bodies that hold them — the National Monuments Service, dúchas.ie, logainm.ie and others. Once you follow a link you are on their site under their terms, as with any link anywhere.
- Your rights
- GDPR gives you rights over personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to request, correct or erase. If you think that is wrong, write and we will look.
Why there is no consent banner
Under GDPR and the ePrivacy Regulations, consent is required before non-essential cookies or similar storage are placed on your device. The language you chose is not one: you asked for it by choosing it, and it is what makes the choice hold. Nothing else is stored, so there is nothing to consent to. The banner is absent because the tracking is absent, not the other way round.
